CASA Advocates (CASAs),
citizens
just like you
, provided just that.
We appreciate your interest in Colonial CASA and
in
becoming an

dvocate
for
the
faces of tomorrow
.
The application process consists of a
C
hild Protective Services
(CPS)
background check,
a
fingerprint card
and Form SP

for the FBI criminal background check
, and a release for social
security verification
from DMV
.
During the course of the application process, we will
contact you to
set up
an interview.
Please read
the
booklet prior to your interview with CASA staff, as the
information contained therein will be discussed.
We ask that each Advocate commit him/herself to a minimum of
one full year
of service. All
CASAs must be
at least 2
5
years of age
and are required, by law; to provide
the above mentioned
releases.
Th
e CPS
release must be notarized, and our office will be happy to provide that service.
(The fee for processing these

is
$45
(
non

refundable
), unless the CA
SA Program
cancels training
).

The
Volunteer Education P
rogram for
prospective CASAs
involves
about
45
hours of
training
;
approximately

hours of
classroom; 12 hours

plus 6 hours of court observation.
The sessions will run for a

ESIDENCY APPLICANTS FOR THE 2018

Dear Medical Students,
The residency program leaders in emergency medicine at Northwestern University and the University of
Chicago are working together again this year to address the
challenges of interview season travel.
Our
programs have
once again
scheduled the majority of our interviews on consecutive dates. This will
allow many of you from outside the Chicago area to interview at both of our programs in the same
week. We hope t
hat
this will help to reduce travel costs for many of you. In fact, we
studied the effect of
this
scheduling
effort
last year and found that students who interviewed on consecutive days
at our
programs
saved a combined total
of over $18,000 in travel expenses
.
To make scheduling convenient and fair, we will send the majority of our interview invitations via E

mail
using
Interview Broker
at
7:30pm CT on Tuesday, October 10
th
. Those who will be invited to interview
will receive a notice from our programs on Mon
day, October 9
th
, so that they can plan ahead for the
timed
Interview Broker
message the following day.
Please be sure to schedule
two
separate interview
days for both Northwestern University and the University of Chicago
.
In collaboration with Interview
Broker and the Application Process Improvement Task Force through the
Council for Residency Directors
(CORD)
,
we have elected to participate in the monitoring feature that
provides alerts for applicants that are scheduled to interview at two programs on th
e same day.
